Conifer Systems, a leading provider of innovative environmental solutions for the abatement of fugitive emissions, has announced the launch of its new Aeros MineOx solution. This Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) solution is designed specifically for the abatement of ventilation air methane (VAM) and fugitive emissions in underground coal mine applications. These cutting-edge technologies are set to revolutionize the way coal mines operate, boosting sustainability while creating carbon credits.

The Aeros MineOx is a highly efficient and low-pressure solution that operates automatically at low levels of methane concentration, 0.2% to 1.2% by volume. Maintaining autothermal operation is essential to minimize fuel consumption and reduce emissions on site.

The Aeros MineOx has a modular design and IoT networking capabilities that allow it to be scaled to meet any methane destruction demand. Units can be connected in parallel to a common ventilation air source ductwork system and networked via Ethernet to the local control room.

Compared to other solutions on the market, the Aeros MineOx delivers more value at a lower cost. It features a monolithic poppet design that reduces installation time and cost and utilizes field-mounted remote input/output panels. The dewpoint control system reduces both CAPEX and OPEX investment, and shared exhaust stacks significantly reduce manufacturing, transportation, and civil construction costs.

The Aeros MineOx is designed and manufactured in the United States, using a vertically integrated manufacturing philosophy supported by domestic supply chain partners to deliver advanced abatement solutions with a focus on speed to market.

Conifer Systems has already started collaborating with leading mining companies to implement its solutions. The first solution is expected to be operational in early 2024 at Solvay’s trona mining facility in Wyoming’s Green River Valley. The company is certain that Aeros MineOx will become indispensable for coal mines worldwide, promoting the industry’s commitment to responsible practices by reducing vented methane and greenhouse gas emissions.
